Vikings conference - The Nordic Bahá'í Youth Conference
"The fundamental purpose animating the Faith of God and His Religion is to safeguard the interests and promote the unity of the human race, and to foster the spirit of love and fellowship amongst men. Suffer it not to become a source of dissension and discord, of hate and enmity."
In this age, mankind needs a complete and positive view of the world's future as well as tools to work for it. Old religions and political structures have lost their renewing effect, which could be free from cultural ties, rituals and interest groups.
According to the founder of the Bahá'í Faith, Bahá'u'lláh, mankind is on the verge of its maturity. His teachings answer to the most critical questions of our age such as attaining world peace, removing extreme poverty and wealth and achieving co-operation and equality in this multicultural world. Bahá'u'lláh taught that all major religions have brought guidance from the same God to mankind, which develops continually with the help of every new religion.
Nordic Bahá'í Youth (or Vikings) Conferences are annual meetings, where bahá'í and other youth gather to discuss important topics together concentrating each year on a different theme. Here the youth get a chance to share their views on the themes and learn from others in a safe and friendly environment.
The conference lasts for four days and is held in one of the Nordic countries during Easter time, when many countries participate their national Easter holidays. The host's responsibilities rotates every year between Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The next conference in March 2008 is held in Oulu, Finland.
