Venue
Oulu, you say?
That’s right. The venue of the upcoming Vikings Conference 2008 shall be the carefully selected and prepared school of Kaakkuri, 10 km from the centre of Oulu, Finland. The Finnish Bahá’í community has had very positive experiences of this modern school building; we’ve spent our two past summer schools there. The over 400 years old city of Oulu is the capital of Northern Finland and houses the second biggest university of the country. There are around 130,000 inhabitants living in the city.
As always, the participants will be sleeping on mattresses in classrooms. We can provide mattresses for most of the participants, but we cannot be sure that there is enough for everyone. If you are arriving later to the conference, we ask you to be prepared to bring your own mattress. Also, if you are coming to the conference by car or otherwise can easily bring a mattress with you, we kindly ask you to do so, in case there are people left without a mattress. You should also bring your own sleeping bag and pillow, as they are not offered.
